When this community bank decided to renovate, redevelopment
of downtown Libertyville was already underway.
The redevelopment program called for restoring the town’s
historic character in accordance with guidelines advocated
by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Bank
wanted its renovation to be consistent with these guidelines.
Two attached buildings served as the Bank's home. An
historic, early 20th Century structure faced the town's main
street. Behind it, stood a stark, contemporary addition. We
redesigned the exterior of this addition, relating it more closely
in style to the older structure. Inside, we integrated the two
buildings and created new, much needed work spaces. Phasing
allowed business to operate fully throughout construction.
